Import/Export Inventory

CSV is a famous MS Excel(TM) format, but it is now supported by many applications. CSV is a text format comma delimited. Each record is separated by a line feed (new line). As comma is used in excel to recognize fields, WEBMASTERCART will replace automatically any comma in your fields with [COMMA]. Remember that you shall use [COMMA] instead of commas (,) when you work on your local inventory (if you upload from a CSV FILE). For example in descriptions, options, etc.

If you work in excel, we suggest that you choose this option when you export your inventory, but then save the file as .xls (many excel installations will replace automatically your "," with ";" and you will not be able to read the table correctly, even in excel. So just save a .xls (excel format) and work on that file. When you are ready just save the file to a CSV  or a text - tab delimited - file, go to your admin panel and upload the inventory.

This is simply a text/ascii format, that can be imported to any database.

Read "Save Inventory in a CSV file". Please know that you can have fields delimited with a "," or a ";". Webmastercart will work in both situations.

This format is easy to obtain from any database application.

ALWAYS KEEP A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR DATA.
